Every other day of this lockdown has been about figuring out a way to insert little moments of joys and adventure into our little (maybe not so little, because I feel like I have a lot of children) family. Today’s adventure, to try out the Jungle Crunchalots cereal, I let the boys have cereal outside on the autumn lawn, whilst soaking in some Vitamin D.
I’m pretty much in routine and habit with my groceries and purchase the same products and brands all the time. When receiving this package, I was particularly nervous about whether they’d like a Jungle branded cereal.
Perhaps them having a new cereal outside whilst soaking in some sun in the Johannesburg Winter may have been a distraction from the antsy, ‘I want my normal cereal’.
“I call it the victory cereal! It’s the best one!”
What I love and appreciate about my boys is the brutal honesty about the food they eat… like the other day, I’d high key burnt my banana bread and got told, “Mommy, you do other things better. This banana bread is burnt.” So, trying out a new cereal… of course they’d drag me if they didn’t like it.
To my surprise, Mikaili exclaimed “I call it the victory cereal! It’s the best one!” and Morgan agreed “It’s so crunchy, soft and the strawberry flavour tastes like milkshake”.
These words were all being muttered as they took turned gulping spoonfuls, slurping the milk and asking for refills (boy tummies).
Well my job here is done… new cereal introduced into the house that has 32% less sugar*, has fibre for digestive wellbeing, has B Vitamins for energy release and Immune system support, we know this is all too necessary in the times we live in right now.
As a full time, work from home mom, this relief of knowing they can help themselves with a bowl if I lag behind on a call during lunch is a little too relieving lol.

*32% less total sugar per 100 g than national leading brand of children’s multigrain honey flavoured cereal.
