…the most nerve wrecking doctor’s visit
Your first prenatal visit varies according to the clinic you visit. There’s no right or wrong time. Most often, you’ll be seen for your first appointment between 6-12 weeks. It may seem like a very long time to wait considering how many questions you may have but earlier than that it may be tough identifying the little bean on the scan.
During this appointment you will be asked about your medical history, your partner’s medical history and your family history. This is to make sure you have the best prenatal care plan for you and baby. Also try to take note of any current medication you are on. Include a list of vitamins and over the counter medicines you are taking.
Who will deliver me? Should I have get a midwife if I want to deliver naturally?
How much weight should I gain?
Can I continue exercising?
If you have history of medical conditions: what to do?
If on chronic medication, should I continue? Are they safe? (Take your medication with your to your appointment)
Do I need to do any genetic screening?
Do I need to get tested for COVID19?
Who is my first point of call if I have any issues?
How often will I have these appointments?
What foods should I stop eating?

Please can you assist with a list of midwives for VBA2C around Woodmead/Rivonia and Sandton area. Thanks
Hi Itumeleng,
I don’t have a list at the moment.
I would suggest joining Natural Birth, VBAC and VBA2C Facebook groups. You will get alot of help and people’s reviews on there.
