I felt a wave of nostalgia over me as I began to explore the Roblox app. I found myself reminiscing about my “Nintendo Gameboy” and “Club Penguin” days. 

This app has found the perfect way to gel these two different ways of “gaming”, with a whole new twist on it – where not so long ago, it would have been seen as next to impossible.

Roblox are pioneers in a sense, they have had a history of launching some features that previously never existed. Roblox was the only platform to offer 3D games. The games available at Roblox are created simplistically, but with high graphics quality, and are designed with the motive to educate children.

In 2006, Roblox was launched with the initial thought of providing some entertainment to its users. But after a year, and to date, they have seen that Roblox is expanding every single day. Roblox is now not only a platform to play games or create games. Currently, thousands of people are earning through Roblox (In the form of “Robux”).

What is “Roblox?”

 This app is one of the popular online platforms that allows its users to create sophisticated games. A complete game can be developed using Roblox’s online platform.

What makes this app even better? This platform doesn’t require a high-end machine to develop these games, it just requires a PC with good internet connectivity, and they don’t charge you anything to enjoy their games.

Developing and creating games are not the only options offered by Roblox – you can play games that are already developed by other users.

With an age restriction of 13+ years old, it makes for a great beginner’s course into game development.

How Roblox Works?

Roblox allows developers to download their “Roblox Studio,” which contains all the required tools to create a game place. This studio is available in the form of setup, and you have to download and install it on your respective devices.

Roblox Studio contains all the required frames to create a game scene, but if you wish to create a “Premium Game,” then you need to buy templates from the official Roblox developer team.

After getting a template, you need to create the background of your game. This includes the scenes and other objects, using the given tools in the Roblox Studio you can then modify the objects and can create any object using the “virtual blocks.”

In the complete mechanism of creating game scenes, virtual blocks are used as the primary and only component to build different characters or objects.

Safety for children

All chat is filtered. The system replaces inappropriate language with hashtag symbols. Chatting in accounts of children under 13 years of age, is heavily filtered. They also employ human monitors who are there to keep an eye out for inappropriate language and content.

However, some people have been able to find loopholes, so it is important to know who your children are interacting with. Make sure to pay close attention to red flags, privacy settings, and other safety precautions, and then your children are able to have an amazing experience playing Roblox.

Parental Controls

The app provides account controls that allow parents to:

●   Restrict how kids can interact in the app.

●   Gives you control over the type of games they can play.

●   Can control whether your children can be contacted (who can message or chat with them).

According to Roblox’s website, in order to enable these settings, you link your email to your child’s account and create a PIN that prevents children from changing the settings back.

“Robux”

The Roblox platform introduced its own virtual currency, Robux. From 2013, developers need to trade in Robux, and then fees are needed to convert Robux into real money. Making another way for the developers to earn revenue from Robux and vice versa.

Almost anyone is given the opportunity to earn with Roblox. Dedicated creators are able to earn a good amount of money.

Roblox offers few different revenue-generating models, including:

●   Charging other users for access to games you create.

●   Charging incremental fees within your game.

●   Trading rare items that other users are willing to pay for.

In order to earn money, you have to be 13 years or older, hold a premium membership, and have a minimum of 100 0000 Robux in your account. Then you are able to trade the Robux into the company for real money (100 000 Robux = $350/R5100).

Premium membership

Roblox uses a freemium/premium model. You are offered a lot on Roblox for free, which includes access to plenty of games and Roblox Studio game builder. However, to access other stuff beyond the basics, such as animating your avatar or buying and trading weapons, requires Robux.

There are three subscription levels offered by the Roblox Premium Membership, which includes an Robux allowance:

●   $4.99/R73 per month includes 450 Robux

●   $9.99/R146 per month Includes 1000 Robux

●   $19.99/R292 per month includes 2 200 Robux.

Where can you use Roblox?

In its early days, Roblox was only available for PC users. Due to its growing popularity and increase in demand, you can now operate it through your PlayStation, Xbox, Android devices, iOS devices, or iMac devices.

 Most of the platforms or games don’t support “Windows Smartphones,” because of less usability, but are easily operated through any of the Windows devices
