National Savings Month Series #3 with Liberty: Generational financial behaviour and how it plays out in adulthood.
Today we are laying it bare and talking about the psychology of learnt behaviour when it comes to our attitude toward money – specifically looking at generational financial cycles we have picked up – consciously and subconsciously – from parental figures that modelled this behaviour when we were growing up.
Boitumelo is the Head of Business Preservation and a Financial Adviser for Liberty Group Holding’s Individual Arrangement – Operations and join us on today’s edition of #TheSitDownWomenomics.
Guest: Boitumelo Mothoagae
Boitumelo started her career at Liberty in 2008, as a Financial Adviser, consulting to clients in the areas of wealth creation and management and security creation. During this period she was awarded the Financial Adviser of the Month Award after achieving the highest production in her branch.
Boitumelo has been a spokesperson for Liberty with regards to financial planning matters and has provided comment for numerous print publications in South Africa (Destiny, Destiny man, Women’s Health, Cosmopolitan, Bona, Drum, Sowetan, Real, Huisgenoot, Commuter SA, City Press, I-Magazine, and Sowetan); just to name a few and has made appearances in this regard on radio stations (Kaya FM, SA FM, Y-FM, Motsweding FM, and Metro FM) and has appeared on television (eNCA – Moneyline, Business Day TV – Smart Money).

Today – we are laying it bare and talking about the psychology of learnt behaviour when it comes to our attitudes towards money – specifically looking at generational financial cycles we have picked up – consciously or subconsciously - from parental figures that modelled this behaviour when we were growing up. The whole point of The Sit Down Womenomics is to have honest conversations about our relationship with money in order for us to learn, unlearn and develop healthy financial attitudes. So I’d like this to be an interactive conversation – please share your experiences, questions and common financial attitudes the generation before us often had that perhaps you feel has affected you personally. Our expert from Liberty for today is Boitumelo Mothoagae, Head of Business Preservation and a Financial Adviser for Liberty Group Holding’s Individual Arrangement - Operations
